It was 6th in
February 2012 at exactly 11:49 in the morning that the 6.9 earthquake magnitude
struck in the whole Negros Oriental province. Particularly here in Guihulngan
City and in our neighborhood towns and cities.
A minute before the earthquake, I was walking from
school to our boarding house. When I was
in the eatery, suddenly the very devastating earthquake struck. I heard a very
loud sound coming from below the ground like a thunder together with a very
strong wind. I was so afraid during this time accompanied by worries about my
family. I was running outside the boarding house because I was so afraid of
what will happen next.
After
that, when the ground shaking became slow, I slowly stand and walked going inside
boarding house. When I arrived in my boarding house, I was shocked by the
things that were scattered in the kitchen. I was so very sad looking on some of
my valued things.
After
that, I packed some of my very important things and evacuate from our boarding
house to an area which is safe from tsunami. I sleep for one night in this
area. And there, I realized that living not in our home is not easy. Days
After, I went to our home in Sandayao by just walking because there were no
more vehicles for us to ride because there was no gasoline being sold.
Because
of this event, I am always making myself ready all the time. And I am praying
and hoping that this very devastating earthquake will not happen again.
The earthquake really
changes my life’s outlook. Before, I didn’t go to church but I always pray in
our home but when earthquake came, I go to church and pray. Because I realize that we need to
have a time for Him even a short time.
And we can call Him anytime. I am so thankful that He saves me and my
family. He is really good to us...
